Are your products safe?

At Celia's Salt Creek Apothecary, I make products that are safe, delicious, and that myself and my family consume.  I steer clear of herbs that are widely contraindicated.  If you have any specific medical concerns, please consult your doctor or a holistic practitioner.   Also please note the guideline below for pregnancy and nursing and be aware that some products contain alcohol.  I am not a licensed practitioner, and cannot recommend or prescribe any products for medical use.  See Disclaimer.

Are Celia's Salt Creek Apothecary products safe for pregnant or nursing women?

Pregnant and nursing women should consult with a physician or midwife prior to using Celia's Salt Creek Apothecary products.  Not all herbs are safe to consume during pregnancy.

My product looks different than the last time I purchased it, why?

All Celia's Salt Creek Apothecary products are made by hand in small batches, as a result there may be some variation from batch to batch.   Each product is formulated consistently but sometimes source ingredients may be a different color or more or less aromatic, etc.  Embrace and enjoy the subtle differences you may encounter between batches.

Why is there alcohol in some of your products? Do you make any alcohol-free products?

Alcohol is one of the best ways to extract and preserve herbs.  I use organic non-gmo cane alcohol for most herbal extracts and brandy for herbal elixirs (herbal extracts with honey added).  Alcohol extraction is a traditional method of making preserving herbs and gives products a longer shelf-life.   Celia's Salt Creek Apothecary does make products without alcohol.  El Diablo and Celia's Stinging Nettle Tonic are both made from organic raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar. Tisanes are herbal teas which can be steeped for 10-15 minutes for a delicious cup or up to 2 hours for a more medicinal effect.  Herbal honeys are an extraordinary way to consume a variety of herbs.  Celia's Salt Creek Apothecary also carries lip butters, topical oils and balms, herbal infused cold-process soap and herbal infused aromatherapy serums.
